"The Time" is the second studio album by Bros, serving as the follow-up to their highly
successful debut, "Push." The album was officially released on October 16, 1989,
Marking a significant moment in the band's career, as it was their first project following the
departure of bassist Craig Logan earlier that same year. This time brothers Matt and Luke Goss
took a more prominent role in the creative process, as they contributed as co-writers for the
first time, alongside the established songwriter Nicky Graham.
A total of four singles were released from the album, each showcasing the distinctive sound
that the band was known for. The lead single, "Too Much," captures the essence of their
energetic pop style, while "Chocolate Box" offers a catchy melody with relatable lyrics. "Madly
in Love" dives into themes of romance, and "Sister" holds a particularly poignant significance.
The latter track was a heartfelt tribute to Matt and Luke's stepsister, Carolyn, who tragically lost
her life in a collision with a drunk driver in London in 1988. This personal connection adds
depth to the album and highlights the emotional range of their music.
Upon its release, "The Time" achieved commercial success, reaching number four on the UK
Albums Chart and earning Platinum certification in 1989 for sales exceeding 380,000 copies
within the UK. The album's popularity extended beyond the UK, as it also made its mark on the
Italian music scene, charting as the 96th best-selling album of the year in 1989. In total,
"The Time" sold over 4 million copies worldwide,
