Released in November 1987, "When Will I Be Famous?" is the second single by the band.  Although it initially failed to break into the top 40, the song experienced a steady climb over six weeks, ultimately reaching number 2 on the official UK chart on January 31, 1988. It spent an
impressive 13 weeks on the chart and sold over 220,000 copies in United Kingdom.

The single also found success topping the UK Dance Chart and Airplay chart. It also claimed the number one spot on the Irish Singles Chart,
with sales exceeding 100,000 copies, and number 1 on the Japanese foreign single chart, selling 300,000 units. "When Will I Be Famous?"
entered the top five in 11 other countries, helping to establish Bros as a prominent force in the global music scene. The song charted in over 30 countries, including France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Australia, and South Africa.

To date, "When Will I Be Famous?" has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, thanks in part to the rise of download and streaming platforms.
It has also received Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond certifications from the global music industry, marking its enduring popularity.

The song overall received positive critical reception, although Richard Lowe of Smash Hits described it as "second rate" and suggested it was unlikely to be a hit. Time proved him wrong, as the track became a defining anthem for Bros and a memorable hit of its era.
